Who is YOGAthletix?

Founder/Director Guylaine “Glenn” Julien, has over 25 years experience in the fitness and yoga industry. Before taking the big plunge into YOGAthletix, she’s played many roles in the fitness/wellness industry, including fitness studio owner, groupEx director, club fitness director, gym manager and dance director and choreographer. She is a mom and a wife, a certified fitness instructor, certified personal trainer, Hatha and Moksha registered yoga teacher, Reebok and Schwinn trained indoor cycling instructor and was the official fitness trainer of the Toronto Argos Cheerleaders for 5 years (2011-2015). Her expertise, out of the box thinking and enthusiasm lead her to this unique concept of yoga, ballet barre fitness and barefoot exercise. She understands that exercise must be safe, fun and efficient. Guylaine teaches all styles of yoga, GETnFit, BarreFit and Psycle.


Owner/Director Jamie Bell is a kinesiology – sports management and dance graduate from the University of Western Ontario. While pursuing her degree Jamie worked as a dance instructor/choreographer for The Dance Movement, an aqua fit instructor for the university and also coached the Western Dance Pack. With the need to stay active and fit Jamie turned to yoga and group fitness and quickly grew attached to the atmosphere these types of exercise presented. Post University Jamie pursued a dream of hers and spent a year dancing for the Raptors Dance Pack. Jamie furthered her education and completed her CanFitPro group fitness certification and in 2013 travelled to Costa Rica to complete her 200-hour Yoga Alliance approved vinyasa yoga certification. She also was a Fitness Trainer of the Toronto Argos Cheerleaders 2014-2015. Jamie teaches all styles of yoga, GETnFit and BarreFit.


Tricia Tomiczek is a movement specialist with extensive theoretical and practical experience in yoga, pilates and dance. Tricia’s love for movement began in dance classes as a very young girl. While completing her bachelor of fine arts in Performance Dance at Ryerson University, this passion for movement evolved into a curiosity of the human body and wellness. Tricia completed her Hatha Yoga teacher training with Yogi Vishvaketu and Chetana Panwar of The World Conscious Yoga Family. Tricia is a diastasis expert specializing in post natal rehab. Tricia has been teaching yoga, pilates, barre and dance classes full-time since 2010. Tricia brings energy, focus, and a deep understanding of body awareness to each class. She teaches all styles of yoga, GETnFit and BarreFit.


Jayme fell in love with yoga after her very first class. Initially attracted to yoga for its physical benefits, she quickly realized that the practice has so much more to offer. Through work with the breath, the movement of the body, and letting go of ego one can cultivate strength and an inner peace. In her teaching she hopes to provide creative yoga sequences, blending spirituality with playfulness and emphasizing body awareness to promote alignment and balance. Jayme teaches all styles of yoga.


Sydney is a dancer, singer, actor and fitness/wellness consultant. She is a former Canadian Champion rhythmic gymnast and professional dancer with The National Ballet School of Canada. Sydney studied kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario and completed her business degree at the Richard Ivey School of Business, With a passion for health and fitness, she completed her CanFitPro Fitness Instructor Specialist certification in 2014. Sydney is excited to share her love of all things dance and fitness with the wonderful YOGAthletix community, she teaches BarreFit and GETnFit.

 


Megan is a certified hatha yoga instructor as well as a devoted student of the practice. She studied with Karma Teachers in Vancouver BC and continues to take trainings and workshops in Toronto where she is currently situated. While studying for three years at George Brown’s classical theatre conservatory she began to notice the similarities between the movement classes for actors and the physical practice of yoga, and became increasingly curious about the workings of the human body and the power of breath. Her practice is playful and allows her to keep grounded, humble and healthy which is important to her teachings and reflected in her classes. Expect a great playlist and a mindful sequence. Megan teaches all styles of yoga.


 Yoga and dance has been part of her life for over 15 years and her practice has made her grow stronger, more flexible, and fearless both on and off the mat. It inspires her to live each moment more fluidly and mindfully. She has completed levels 1 & 2 in the YOGAFit Teacher Training in September of 2009, as well as the 200 hr RYT certification with Yoga Loft Tampa in January 2016 and has been privately trained with YOGAthletix for BarreFit. Emily will always be a student at heart and is extremely grateful and honored for the caring wisdom her teachers have shared with her. In her classes, she loves to dive into her creativity while providing a safe and non-judgmental environment for students to look after their own bodies. WIth a little bit of playfulness and inspiration, she seeks to help others to find their hidden potential and walk out of her class feeling rejuvenated and smiling. Emily teaches BarreFit and all styles of yoga.

Laura has been a fitness professional for over 10 years and a dancer her whole life. She is a graduate of The Hammond School of Performing Arts in the UK, where she trained extensively in ballet, jazz, tap, modern and contemporary styles of dance, as well as theatre and voice work. Fitness and healthy living is something that has always been a part of Laura’s life as a dancer and so, when she moved to Canada she completed her CanFitPro Fitness Instructor Specialist certification and began to teach barre classes and hasn’t looked back since! She now teaches dance, fitness and barre classes across Toronto. Laura loves to challenge and motivate her students to work hard, to the best of their ability and promises to always offer an encouraging, safe and friendly environment. She is so happy to be a part of the YOGAthletix family and  looks forward to seeing you in BarreFit and/or GETnFit class.


Barb lives to move! A lifelong athlete, she grew up riding horses and playing competitive water polo. An avid runner, she has several 10km and half marathons under her belt as well as one Tough Mudder race. She holds a BScH in Life Sciences, a diploma in respiratory therapy and is a certified Anesthesia Assistant. She became a certified personal trainer with CanFitPro while on maternity leave with her second child and began teaching bootcamp to new moms. After many years working at the hospital, Barb decided fitness was her true passion. Certified by Schwinn, she was coined the “motivational Psycle instructor” by one of her students. Barb is committed to her clients and is driven by the joy they feel after a single class or after achieving a major goal. come see how she can inspire you. Growing up as a competitive Irish dancer and runner, Megan always had a passion for fitness and movement. Her healthy living lifestyle drove her to study Kinesiology at Western Ontario University. Working as a personal trainer Megan felt she wanted more and started teaching group fitness classes. Her motivation is to help others live a healthier lifestyle, one which is achieved by connecting their mind, body and spirit. Her ultimate goal is to help younger women develop skills beyond just bodily fitness, but to include skills to improve mental health. She aims to build confidence through movement. To support and empower one another, to help younger women become the powerful role model of the next generation. Megan teaches Psycle and Fusion classes at YOGAthletix.


Throughout Lynette’s life, she has always had a passion for fitness and healthy living. She took her first indoor cycling class over 20 years ago and was immediately hooked! In 2012 she completed her Spinning certification through Mad Dogg Athletics and has been teaching ever since. In class, Lynette’s profiles are inspired by outdoor cycling and are designed to improve the fitness levels of each rider by coaching them through rides that are strength based and encourages riders to tap into their inner strength as they push past their comfort zones. When not teaching on the bike, Lynette is teaching children in her elementary school classroom. Lynette teaches Psycle at YOGAthletix since November 2015.


Megan Hoskins is a 23 year veteran of yoga, a community activist, a highly sought after RMT and healer, and a mentor to new yoga teachers. Known for her breath driven yoga classes and attention to detail, she seeks to incorporate self discovery, inquiry and play into every practice. Megan’s classes feel like a massage – a creative, challenging and uplifting massage delivered by a consummate pro. She is an authentic, face forward teacher and her infectious love of yoga will transform your life, inside and out. When Megan is not teaching yoga in the city, you can find her creating and collaborating at Northern Love Project (her retreat space in the Bruce Peninsula) connecting to the quiet, to the land, to heart. Megan teaches all styles of yoga.


Stephanie balances her bliss with yoga, music and good company. She loves the dance and challenge of a good sweaty flow class that melts her into stillness. As a teacher she is dedicated to creating a space for people to feel challenged, cared for and connected in a healthy way. She will remind you how strong you are and nourish you with fun. Stephanie teaches all styles of yoga.
